About
1X Technologies (formerly Halodi Robotics) is an AI and robotics company founded in 2014 in Moss, Norway, and now headquartered in Palo Alto, California. The company's mission is to build a truly abundant society through general-purpose humanoid robots capable of performing any kind of work autonomously. Its flagship product, NEO, is a bipedal home humanoid featuring a soft, fabric-covered exterior designed for safe coexistence with humans, priced at $20,000 (or $499/month) with first U.S. deliveries beginning in 2026.
1X's technology roots trace back to the development of Revo1, described as the world's highest torque-to-weight drive servo motor, purpose-built for low gear-ratio robotics and flexible mechanics. The company's earlier industrial android, EVE, was deployed in factory settings globally before the pivot toward the consumer home market with NEO. A 58,000-square-foot vertically integrated "NEO Factory" opened in Hayward, California in April 2026, with initial production capacity of 10,000 units per year and a target of scaling to over 100,000 annually by end of 2027.
1X has raised approximately $136.5M in confirmed institutional funding from investors including the OpenAI Startup Fund, EQT Ventures, Samsung NEXT, and Tiger Global. In December 2025, the company announced a landmark enterprise partnership with EQT to deploy up to 10,000 NEO units across EQT's 300+ portfolio companies between 2026 and 2030. As of mid-2026, SoftBank was reported to be in talks for a majority stake at a ~$6 billion valuation, following earlier reports of 1X seeking up to $1 billion in new funding at a $10 billion+ valuation.
