About
Adaptyv Bio is a Lausanne-based company that runs an automated wet lab for validating AI-designed proteins. Customers submit protein sequences through a web platform or API, and AI agents can order experiments directly. The company synthesises DNA in-house, expresses proteins cell-free and measures binding by surface plasmon resonance, returning labelled experimental data in about three weeks (as little as three days for its Prime offering). Its assays cover binding, expression and thermostability, and it has released a public API and the Proteinbase protein design data hub.
Adaptyv says it has increased lab throughput more than fivefold over the past year and has onboarded over 100 customers, including AI biology companies such as Chai Discovery and Boltz and pharmaceutical groups such as Roche and Novo Nordisk. In 2026 it demonstrated a workflow with Anthropic in which Claude designed protein binders that were tested in Adaptyv's lab, and it co-sponsored a protein design competition with Anthropic.
The company raised a $40M Series A led by Highland Europe in August 2026, with existing investors Ace Ventures, byFounders and Y Combinator, following an $8M seed round led by Ace Ventures. The funding is intended to roughly triple lab capacity by the end of 2026, open a London lab and office in Q4 2026, and expand from binding assays toward developability and full biophysical characterisation.
