About
adsilico is a University of Leeds spinout founded in 2024 that develops in silico testing for implantable medical devices. Its Virtual Chimera platform generates fully synthetic virtual patients from anonymised clinical imaging, using generative AI to build realistic virtual hearts and blood vessels, and runs physics-based simulations of device behaviour across populations that vary by sex, age, ethnicity, anatomy and disease severity. Virtual populations are validated against real patient data under clinical oversight, and model credibility is assessed using the ASME V&V 40 framework that underpins FDA's 2023 guidance.
The company works with structural heart and neurovascular device makers, supporting decisions on device design, sizing and patient selection. Example studies include a mitral valve repair simulation in which coaptation length increased by 3.2 mm after implantation, and a neurovascular simulation in which mean blood-flow velocity within an aneurysm was 66% lower after implant placement compared with the pre-implant model. Its work to date has centred on cardiovascular devices.
In October 2026 adsilico raised a £10M Series A round led by PXN Ventures, with existing investors Northern Gritstone and Parkwalk participating. The funding is intended to extend the platform into neurovascular devices such as flow diverters for brain aneurysms and to grow the team from 14 to 34 staff at the Nexus innovation hub in Leeds. Earlier, a £3.5M seed round in February 2024 was led by Northern Gritstone (£2M), with Parkwalk (£1.5M) participating.
