Omnidirectional propulsion drones for defense

About

AERIX SYSTEMS is a French aerial robotics company headquartered in Mérignac (Gironde) that designs, produces, and commercializes modular drone platforms built around a patented omnidirectional propulsion technology. Unlike conventional multirotor architectures, its system allows simultaneous and independent control of thrust and attitude — enabling 360° roll, pitch, and yaw without displacing the drone's center of gravity. This translates into unprecedented agility: speeds up to 200 km/h from standstill in 2.5 seconds and resistance to winds exceeding 100 km/h.

The company operates as both an equipment supplier and systems integrator, offering a family of platforms (AXS-µ1, AXS-S1, AXS-F1) alongside a proprietary open flight-control architecture (AXS-FC) and an onboard AI compute module (Jetson carrier board). This platform-agnostic approach allows rapid integration of new payloads and mission modules for civil inspection, critical infrastructure protection, and defense applications.

Originally targeting civil drone inspection markets, AERIX SYSTEMS has pivoted strongly toward defense over the past two years, focusing on autonomous counter-drone (cUAS) interceptors capable of physically neutralizing airborne threats — a hard-kill capability. The company was selected for NATO's DIANA 2026 accelerator cohort in the Autonomy & Unmanned Systems challenge, and in September 2026 entered a strategic partnership with KNDS to industrialize the AXS-µ1 interceptor and integrate it into the TARGAS DSP10 counter-UAS system. With a 17-person team and its first industrial pre-series underway, AERIX SYSTEMS is scaling from R&D demonstrators toward operational deployments and series production in the Bordeaux ecosystem.
