About
AlixLabs AB is a Lund-based semiconductor equipment company spun out of Lund University in 2019. It describes itself as the world's only pure-play atomic layer etch (ALE) company. Its flagship technology, Atomic Pitch Splitting (APS™), is an ALE-based process that splits nanostructures in a single step, replacing multiple patterning steps in advanced chip manufacturing and aiming to reduce process complexity, cost, energy use and cleanroom demands. The company's technology is aimed at logic and memory chips at the ångström era and below 10 nm.
In 2025 and 2026 the company moved from technology validation toward commercialization. It installed a Brooks Automation platform for a 300 mm APS beta system in November 2025, and launched Sax Forma, described as its first commercially available APS equipment platform, in June 2026. Its Sax Forma beta chamber entered final assembly at VDL Projects in August 2026, after a memorandum of understanding with VDL ETG Projects in April 2026 to industrialize APS. In October 2026 AlixLabs began a six-month APS evaluation within the imec-coordinated NanoIC pilot line. The company has also expanded its cleanroom space at RISE ProNano in Lund and partnered with NSS Water and Fraunhofer IPMS on ultrapure water management.
AlixLabs has raised a Series A totalling €15 million, announced in November 2025 and completed with a strategic top-up from Stephen Industries in early 2026. Earlier funding included a seed round in 2021 led by Almi Invest, a 2023 round of SEK 40 million, and Vinnova innovation grants in 2024. Investors include Navigare Ventures, Industrifonden, FORWARD.one, STOAF and Global Brain. The company reports 10 patents and has been recognized with awards including top honors at the IC Taiwan Grand Challenge in 2025 and a 2026 KPMG Global Tech Innovator win in Sweden.
