About

Alpine Eagle is a European defence technology company founded in Munich in 2023, building airborne counter-UAS (c-UAS) systems for modern military and security forces. Its flagship product, Sentinel, is the world's first air-to-air counter-drone system, integrating multi-sensor airborne radar, EO/IR, and AI-powered interceptor capabilities into a single networked platform. Unlike ground-based systems limited to 200–500 m detection ranges, Sentinel operates at 5 km and beyond, providing mobile, persistent, and terrain-independent defence against autonomous drone threats at scale. The platform's hardware-agnostic Sentinel-OS software backbone connects sensors, platforms, and effectors — including kinetic interceptors — into a closed sensor-to-shooter loop.

Alpine Eagle's technology has been operationally validated across several theatres. The German Bundeswehr became Sentinel's launch customer in 2024. In 2025, the company deployed Sentinel with the Ukrainian Armed Forces in active combat environments and participated in Project Vanaheim, a counter-UAS trial involving US and UK armed forces. Since then, Alpine Eagle has secured contracts with three additional European customers and established a presence in the UK, Netherlands, and Karlsruhe alongside its Munich HQ. In June 2026, Alpine Eagle and Latvian firm Origin Robotics signed an MoU at Eurosatory 2026 to integrate Origin's BLAZE autonomous interceptor into the Sentinel architecture, adding a further sensor-to-effector layer.

Founded by Jan-Hendrik Boelens (former CTO of Volocopter and Quantum Systems, Chief Engineer at Airbus Helicopters) and Timo Breuer (former Senior Scientist at Fraunhofer IOSB and Microsoft Research), the company has grown rapidly from 12 employees in 2024 to 50 in 2026, with plans to reach 100. Alpine Eagle has raised over €10M to date, backed by IQ Capital, General Catalyst, HCVC, HTGF, Expeditions Fund, and Sentris Capital. A $45M Series A led by Expeditions Fund and IQ Capital was reported in July 2026.
