About
Advanced Machine Intelligence (AMI Labs) is a Paris-headquartered frontier AI research lab building world-model-based AI systems. Founded by Turing Award winner Yann LeCun after his departure from Meta, the company develops systems that learn abstract representations of real-world sensor data, predict outcomes in representation space, and plan action sequences subject to safety guardrails, based on LeCun's Joint Embedding Predictive Architecture (JEPA).
The company says it targets applications where reliability, controllability and safety matter, including industrial process control, automation, wearable devices, robotics and healthcare. It has announced a partnership with the digital health startup Nabla to bring agentic AI systems to healthcare, and its CEO has said the work starts with fundamental research, so commercial products are expected over years rather than months.
AMI Labs operates in Paris, New York, Montreal and Singapore. In March 2026 it closed a $1.03B seed round at a $3.5B pre-money valuation, described as Europe's largest-ever seed round, co-led by Cathay Innovation, Greycroft, Hiro Capital, HV Capital and Bezos Expeditions. Its backers include Nvidia, Samsung, Temasek and Toyota Ventures.
