About
Apoha is a London-based deep-tech startup founded in 2021 that is building what it calls Liquid State Intelligence (LSI) — a fundamentally new data class for molecular science that captures how molecules, materials, and formulations actually behave under real-world conditions. The company's platform applies controlled physical stresses to microscopic samples suspended in liquid and records the resulting wave patterns in real time, generating over 1,000 behavioural descriptors. Its first commercial product, VIBE® (Variations in Inter-facial Behaviour Under Excitation), converts these wave-pattern readings into structured, empirically validated data used to train AI models for materials discovery.
The company was co-founded by CEO Shamit Shrivastava — a mechanical engineer and biophysicist with a PhD from Boston University and postdoctoral research at the University of Oxford — and COO Anshika Srivastava, a former Executive Director at Goldman Sachs. Shrivastava's foundational research into interfacial physics, begun in 2008, underpins Apoha's more than 60 patents spanning hardware, software, data, and AI models. The team of approximately 25 spans physics, biology, data science, and engineering.
Apoha targets pharmaceutical and biotech companies (helping predict drug stability and antibody viability), food and beverage producers (predicting texture and sensory properties of alternative proteins), and advanced materials firms. The platform is already in commercial use: joint research with Boehringer Ingelheim has demonstrated greater than 90% precision in identifying high-risk antibody candidates from just 8 micrograms of material. The company also partners with Somru BioScience and presented at SXSW London upon emerging from stealth in June 2026.
Apoha's broader thesis is that physical-world AI has been held back by the absence of structured, empirically measured data on how matter behaves — a gap it positions LSI to fill, analogous to what genomic sequencing was to biology. The company has offices in London and San Francisco and holds backing from leading European and US venture firms.
