About
ArgusEye AB is a Linköping, Sweden-based company that develops sensor systems for real-time monitoring and control of bioprocesses in the biopharmaceutical industry. It was founded in 2017 as a spin-off from Linköping University by Erik Martinsson and Daniel Aili, building on more than 40 years of biosensor research and 15 years of work on localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) technology.
The company's core technology is label-free LSPR biosensing, which uses gold nanoparticles and ligand-functionalized sensor chips to track critical quality attributes and critical process parameters within process streams. Its patented Auga platform combines the AugaOne sensor system for in-line monitoring, launched in March 2024 and adapted for downstream processing of monoclonal antibodies; the AugaSampler automated liquid handling and data processing system, launched in April 2026 for on-line and at-line measurements; protein A, protein G and protein L sensor chips; and custom sensor chips. The platform is positioned as a Process Analytical Technology tool intended to reduce reliance on slow off-line testing.
ArgusEye works with several large pharmaceutical companies and has had a partnership with Bayer since 2021. It closed a SEK 32.5M (about €2.8M) round in May 2024 led by Voima Ventures with Eir Ventures, received €6.25M in blended funding from the European Innovation Council Accelerator in February 2026 (a €2.5M grant and up to €3.75M in equity), and closed a further €3.3M round in April 2026 with Voima Ventures, Eir Ventures and Impilo Partners Invest. Sofia Håkansson Buch was appointed CEO in April 2026, with Erik Martinsson moving to the role of CTO. The company plans to expand its international customer base.
