About
ARX Robotics is a German defence technology company founded in 2022 by three former Bundeswehr officers, spun out of the Gereon research project at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich. The company develops modular, software-defined autonomous unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) and the AI-powered Mithra OS — an operating system designed to retrofit and network legacy military vehicles with autonomous capabilities, enabling manned-unmanned teaming, swarm operations, and real-time situational awareness.
Its hardware portfolio includes the Gereon tracked UGV (built for rough terrain and heavy payloads), the Hector wheeled platform (optimised for speed and long-range logistics), and Mithra OS as a software stack deployable across both new and legacy fleets. ARX's systems are currently deployed by six European military forces, with the largest Western-developed fleet of UGVs supplied to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The company has also been contracted by the European Defence Agency as part of the first EU-wide defence innovation initiative.
ARX Robotics has grown to approximately 140 employees and has expanded internationally with headquarters in Munich/Oberding, offices in London, Berlin, and Kyiv, and a joint-venture production facility (ARX Industries) with Ukrainian partner Roboneers for mass production of ground robotic systems. Strategic partnerships include Daimler Truck, Renk, DEUTZ, and Helsing. The company has raised a total of €42M across four funding rounds from investors including NATO Innovation Fund, HV Capital, Speedinvest, Project A Ventures, Omnes Capital, Discovery Ventures, Lakestar, Heliad, and Interface Capital.
