About

Astraveus is a Paris-area life science company that develops Lakhesys, a benchtop cell factory for cell and gene therapy manufacturing. The system integrates hardware, software and consumables for research through commercialization, and is described as offering cGMP-oriented, microfluidics-based cell therapy development and manufacturing. Its single-use microfluidic bioprocessors are designed to mimic organ perfusion and speed up the molecular exchanges needed to transform cells into therapeutic agents.

The company was founded in 2016 by Jérémie Laurent at Saint-Louis Hospital in Paris, drawing on research from the MEARY Center for Cell and Gene Therapies. Its stated goals are to reduce manufacturing costs and time, lower resource use and widen patient access to CAR-T and other cell therapies. Reported milestones include a Lakhesys alpha prototype in 2020, a beta prototype with a CAR-T proof of concept in 2022, and an end-to-end CAR-T process demonstration in 2024.

Astraveus has raised a €16.5M seed round led by AdBio Partners, with M Ventures, Johnson & Johnson Innovation (JJDC) and Bpifrance Large Venture participating, and has received French government grants totalling about €17.5M, including €10.4M under France 2030 and €7.1M via Bpifrance's Première usine call. In 2025 it announced the first end-to-end production of CAR-T cells in a microfluidic benchtop system and a strategic partnership with NecstGen in Leiden to evaluate Lakhesys for CAR-T manufacturing. Its leadership was expanded in 2025 with a Chairman, a CFO, a COO and a CTO.
