About
Aviant AS is a Norwegian drone logistics company that delivers full-stack drone services for autonomous and on-demand transport of cargo. The company was founded in 2020 by Lars Erik Fagernæs, Herman Øie Kolden and Bernhard Paus Græsdal, who met in the MIT Professional Education Advanced Study Program. Its early focus was healthcare logistics during the COVID-19 pandemic, transporting blood, COVID-test and milk samples between hospitals and farms in Norway and Sweden, and in 2021 it flew a 120 km autonomous route between Trondheim and Røros.
Aviant uses a hybrid fixed-wing quadcopter design that takes off vertically and then flies forward on wings, which allows a range of up to 120 km. Its consumer home delivery service, Kyte, launched in 2023 and expanded to Sjusjøen near Lillehammer in 2024 and to Ski in 2026, where the company is headquartered and has a drone base. Customers have included hospitals, a leading Norwegian dairy producer and wind-farm operators, and in 2025 the company began delivering food for the platform Foodora in the Stockholm area. Pharmacy company Farmasiet has tested drone deliveries with Aviant.
The company has completed over 9,000 flights and more than 40,000 km, operates over 20 drones and reports over 30 paying contracts. It won the USD 1 million grand prize at the GENIUS NY accelerator in 2024 and was selected for ESA BIC Norway Incubation Boost funding in 2026. Its funding includes a USD 2.3 million seed round led by Luminar Ventures in 2022 and public funding from Innovation Norway and the Research Council of Norway.
