About

Avientus AG is a Zürich-based ETH Zurich spin-off founded in 2024 that develops fully electric, fixed-wing drones with vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) capabilities. The drones use a patent-pending design with two motors for vertical lift-off and flight and are intended to transport payloads such as parcels, food, medical supplies and spare parts in urban, rural and disaster-affected areas. The company's system also includes autonomous ground stations for loading and unloading, intelligent route planning and automated ground operations, with the aim of enabling same-hour, bi-directional logistics without existing infrastructure.

The product line consists of the P3, P10 and P25 models, with maximum payloads of 3 kg, 10 kg and 25 kg respectively and delivery ranges reported between 40 and 150 km. The company is developing its autonomous navigation, including GNSS-denied navigation and autonomous detection and tracking, and took part in a SPRIND Challenge interim evaluation in 2026.

Avientus describes itself as a dual-use company targeting both civilian and defence logistics markets. Defence is currently its main focus, and it has reportedly sold a first prototype to a European army and agreed further pilot projects, including with an Austrian medical company. The technology was presented at the Cyber Innovation Hub of the German Bundeswehr. Its long-term goal is B2B express delivery outside cities.

The company was founded by Johannes Aicher, Alex Hönger, Pascal Schoppmann and Christoph Martin. Its funding includes a Venture Kick award, a Founderful Campus investment, a SPRIND grant and a pre-seed round with support from former Swiss Army chief Thomas Süssli.
