About
Avy is a Dutch drone manufacturer and operator based in Amsterdam, building long-range VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) drone networks for emergency services, ports, defence, energy, and critical infrastructure. Founded in 2016, the company designs, manufactures, and operates its Aera fixed-wing VTOL aircraft, which takes off and lands vertically before transitioning to efficient fixed-wing flight — enabling beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) missions covering tens of kilometres.
Avy's integrated drone network combines the Aera aircraft with an autonomous Dock that deploys, charges, and shelters aircraft without any crew on site, plus a cloud-based software platform for remote mission management. The system is airborne in under 30 seconds and can be operated from anywhere, making it suited to persistent surveillance, rapid emergency response, and automated infrastructure inspection. Avy holds a BVLOS LUC (Light UAS Operator Certificate) in the Netherlands and has participated in NATO maritime exercise REPMUS with the Royal Netherlands Navy.
Key customers include the Port of Rotterdam, Port of Amsterdam, the Royal Dutch Navy, Dutch Police, and Fire Services, as well as international partners such as Citymesh in Belgium. Avy operates as both a product company — selling drone networks — and a service provider that flies missions on behalf of clients across Europe. The company has expanded internationally via exclusive partnerships with Coptrz in the UK and Dilectro Enterprise in Poland, and has carried out defence and dual-use pilots under the ODIN and SDIR programmes.
