About
Cambridge Aerospace is a British defence technology startup founded in September 2024, headquartered in Cambridge, UK, with additional sites near Swindon and at Scottow Business Park in Norfolk. Its mission is to eliminate the risk of existential war in Europe by building low-cost, scalable interceptor systems that can defeat everything from Shahed-type attack drones to cruise missiles and high-speed threats—at a cost taxpayers can afford and at the pace modern threats demand.
The company's flagship product, Skyhammer, is a tube-launched, turbojet-powered interceptor weighing 17 kg that reaches 700 km/h, exceeds 30 km in range, and costs in the tens of thousands of dollars per unit. It went from concept to first flight test in approximately six weeks in early 2025. A second interceptor, Starhammer, is a Mach 2+ rocket-powered missile targeting high-speed threats like cruise missiles, with a 10 km altitude envelope. Cambridge Aerospace is also developing Nightstar, a sovereign UK solid rocket motor programme, and is building what it describes as Europe's largest in-house solid rocket motor mass production facility at its Norfolk site.
In April 2026, the UK Ministry of Defence signed a multi-million-pound contract to supply Skyhammer interceptors and launchers to the UK Armed Forces and Gulf partners, with initial deliveries in May 2026. The company also received contracts under the UK's Low-Cost Air Defence Effectors (LCADE) and NATO's LEAP programme. By mid-2026 it had secured several MoD contracts and was actively involved in US Army evaluations (Project Bullfrog). Cambridge Aerospace reached approximately 250 employees by August 2026 and is targeting production of 2,500 Skyhammer interceptors per month by March 2027.
