About

D-Orbit is the global market leader in space logistics and orbital transportation, founded in 2011 in Fino Mornasco, Italy. The company develops and operates its proprietary ION Satellite Carrier—an orbital transfer vehicle (OTV)—which provides last-mile satellite delivery, reducing the time from launch to operations by up to 85% and constellation launch costs by up to 40%. Since its first mission in 2020, D-Orbit has completed over 20 successful ION missions and delivered more than 200 payloads to orbit across commercial, institutional, and research customers.

Beyond launch and deployment, D-Orbit offers hosted payload services, space cloud computing (edge AI and in-orbit data processing), mission control software, and is actively developing GEA—its in-orbit servicing vehicle—under a €119.6M ESA contract to extend the life of geostationary satellites through rendezvous, docking, and repositioning. In April 2025, D-Orbit acquired Planetek Group, integrating Earth observation, geospatial analytics, and AI-powered in-orbit data processing into its end-to-end value chain.

The company operates globally with offices in Italy, Portugal, Greece, the UK, and the US (via D-Orbit USA, a joint venture focused on satellite bus design, manufacturing, and commercialization). D-Orbit is the world's first certified B-Corp space company, with roughly 500–700 employees across the group following the Planetek integration. Key customers include commercial satellite operators, space agencies (ESA, ASI), and institutional programs across Europe and Japan.
