About
Daedalean AG is a Zurich-based developer of safety-critical, certifiable AI avionics software. Its products include Pilot Eye and Ailumina Vista, visual traffic detection systems for general aviation fixed-wing and helicopter cockpits that detect non-cooperative traffic without transponder or ADS-B. Its other visual applications include landing guidance for fixed-wing and rotorcraft, GNSS-independent positioning and navigation, and power line detection. The company has worked with EASA and the FAA on certifying machine-learning systems for safety-critical aviation applications, and its Traffic Detection was described as the first vision-based ML application working toward DAL-C certification.
Daedalean has partnered with avionics suppliers and OEMs including Honeywell, Avidyne, BendixKing, Genesys Aerosystems (Moog), Xwing and AEE Aircraft Electronic Engineering. Leonardo completed flight testing of its visual awareness system on helicopters in 2024, and Helisul Aviation announced it would equip its fleet with the system. Its Eval Kit and Tensor Accelerator hardware were also developed, with Recogni's Scorpio chosen as the perception processing engine for a new flight control unit.
In August 2025 Destinus Group announced a binding agreement to acquire Daedalean for CHF 180 million (about USD 225 million), in a cash-and-stock deal. Destinus reported completing the acquisition in January 2026, after which Daedalean operates within Destinus as a core hub for AI engineering and autonomy.
