About

Dawn Aerospace is a New Zealand-Dutch space transportation company building a scalable, sustainable space transportation network with the frequency and reliability of aviation. Founded in 2017 with roots at Delft University of Technology, the company operates dual headquarters in Delft, Netherlands and Christchurch, New Zealand, with additional offices in France, Germany, and the USA.

The company's two core product lines are its Aurora spaceplane and in-space propulsion systems. The Aurora is a rocket-powered, runway-operated uncrewed aircraft designed to fly to altitudes above 100 km (the Kármán line) with Mach 3.7 top speed, carrying payloads of up to 15 kg with a four-hour turnaround time. In November 2024, Aurora broke the sound barrier at Mach 1.12 reaching 82,500 ft, setting a world record for the fastest climb to 20 km. Dawn's in-space propulsion systems use non-toxic nitrous-based propellants and have become the fastest-growing chemical propulsion type globally, with 200+ thrusters deployed on 50+ satellites in orbit.

The company has 30+ global customers and has grown revenue from under $3M in FY22 to over $15M with 90%+ growth in the last 12 months, achieving cash-flow positive operations. Notable milestones include a $17M partnership with Oklahoma's spaceport for up to 100 Aurora missions annually from 2027, and the development of Loop — an in-orbit refueling network targeting a 2028 demonstration. Dawn is also expanding into Germany to support European sovereign space defence initiatives.
