About

DeepDrive GmbH is a Munich-based high-tech company developing revolutionary drive units for electric vehicles using its patented Dual Rotor, Radial Flux motor technology. The company's unique U-shaped dual-rotor design drives both an inner and outer rotor simultaneously from a single stator, achieving roughly 60% higher torque density than conventional motors, while using approximately 80% less iron, half the rare-earth magnets, and costing around 30% less to manufacture. The technology is offered in two product lines — an In-Wheel Drive and a Central Drive — as well as a newly introduced Generator for range-extender hybrid applications.

Founded in 2021 by seven engineers and entrepreneurs, most of whom met at TU Munich's motorsport team TUfast, DeepDrive has attracted a customer pipeline covering 8 of the world's 10 largest automakers, which are co-developing series applications with the company. BMW was an early partner and has been road-testing DeepDrive's in-wheel motor in BMW Group vehicles since mid-2024. Continental is both an investor and strategic development partner. The company targets small-series production from 2026 and large-scale mass production by 2028.

DeepDrive has raised approximately €49.35 million in disclosed funding across three rounds from a blue-chip investor base including Leitmotif (with Volkswagen AG as anchor investor), BMW i Ventures, Continental's Corporate Venture Capital Unit (co-pace), UVC Partners, and Bayern Kapital. The company employs around 100 people and has won multiple accolades including the German Innovation Award 2024 and Best Munich Startup 2023.
