About
Ecorobotix is a Swiss agtech company headquartered in Yverdon-les-Bains that develops AI-powered ultra-high precision (UHP) crop sprayers. Its flagship product, the ARA sprayer, uses cameras, computer vision and fast-actuating spray nozzles on a foldable frame to detect individual crops and weeds in real time and treat only the plants that need it, with spray footprints of a few centimetres. The company states that its Plant-by-Plant AI can reduce the use of plant protection products by up to 95 percent while maintaining treatment effectiveness, and it supports non-selective herbicides on row crops. The company has also released crop-specific algorithms for vegetables, cereals, maize, soybean, sugar beet and other crops, with more than 25 crop models available by 2025.
The company was founded in October 2011 by Steve Tanner, an EPFL-trained engineer, and Aurélien Demaurex, after the two met at an environmental gathering and developed an early prototype. Early development was supported by a loan from the Fondation pour l'Innovation Technologique, private angel investors and a Swiss Confederation research project. Ecorobotix debuted its D-ARM prototype between 2016 and 2018, its autonomous AVO robot in 2020, and launched the tractor-pulled ARA sprayer in 2021. The company received B Corp certification in 2019 and was recertified in 2023. In 2026 it launched the ALBA sprayer for turf and golf course management.
Ecorobotix sells through dealers in more than 20 countries across Europe, the Americas and Oceania, and has reported selling 1,000 ARA sprayers worldwide by March 2026. Its U.S. operations are based in Pasco, Washington, and in March 2026 it announced a $50 million investment to assemble the ARA in Kansas. In April 2026 it acquired Maya, a Belgian AI-powered operational intelligence platform for turf and land management. Ecorobotix has raised about $230 million in total funding, including a $105 million Series D led by Highland Europe in October 2025. Dominique Mégret has been CEO since March 2024.
