About
Edge Aerospace is a Luxembourg-based startup founded in September 2024 that develops high-performance, space-qualified Data Processing Units (DPUs) and network switches for satellites and spacecraft. Its E-Series orbital DPUs deliver state-of-the-art computing performance per watt, combining fault-tolerant architectures, error-correction coding (ECC), radiation tolerance, and AI-enabled autonomy. The network switches support Ethernet link rates from 1 to 40 Gbps with up to 114 Gbps of aggregated throughput, enabling high-bandwidth, real-time data transfer and in-space analytics across payloads.
The company targets satellite payload integrators, platform providers, sensor manufacturers, and defense programs across North America, Europe, and Asia. Its hardware is designed to scale from individual spacecraft command-and-data-handling to distributed orbital compute infrastructure and future orbital data centers. In March 2026, Edge completed its first in-orbit demonstration aboard SpaceX's Transporter-16 rideshare, successfully validating onboard networking and data processing in orbit.
Edge has secured five institutional contracts spanning ESA (including a Phase 1 Space Cloud contract for orbital data center architecture), the European Defence Fund, the Luxembourg Space Agency, and the Luxembourg Ministry of Defence. In August 2026, the company signed a licensing agreement with Redwire to manufacture its DPUs and network switches in the US at Redwire's Marlborough, Massachusetts facility, accelerating supply chain resilience and meeting growing US market demand. The co-founding team combines deep expertise from Made In Space, Redwire Space Europe, and Airbus avionics development.
