About

EDGX is a Belgian spacetech company founded in 2023 in Ghent by Nick Destrycker and Wouter Benoot. It builds edge computers for satellites that process data in orbit, so that satellites can analyse data and act on it without waiting for a ground contact. The company's flagship product is Sterna, a payload computer for onboard AI built on NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX, with a 10 to 45 W power range and a stated 7-year design life. It runs the SpaceFeather software stack, which includes a space-hardened Linux OS, a supervisory system for autonomous health monitoring, radiation fault detection and recovery, and an in-orbit application framework. A successor, Morus, is in development on NVIDIA Jetson Thor with up to three times the computing power of Sterna.

EDGX's customers are mainly commercial satellite operators, and it also supplies companies building satellites for government and defence. Its use cases include RF monitoring and satellite communication, Earth observation and ISR such as cloud, ship and change detection, and in-orbit servicing with onboard computer vision for proximity operations. Customers can also rent compute time on EDGX missions. In 2025 the company signed a multi-unit order worth €1.1 million with a satellite operator.

EDGX closed a €2.3 million seed round in August 2025, co-led by the imec.istart future fund and the Flanders Future Tech Fund managed by PMV. The funds were used to build an in-house lab in Ghent with thermal vacuum and vibration testing, and to fund development of Sterna and Morus. Its first two Sterna payloads launched on SpaceX Transporter-16 in March 2026, and two further missions are booked for 2027. The company reported 25 team members on its website and was awarded the ESA Rising Star 2025 recognition.
