About
Elysian Aircraft is a Dutch aerospace company developing the E9X, a battery-electric regional airliner designed to carry 88 to 100 passengers on routes of up to 750 km, with a path to 1,000 km. The company was founded in 2023 as a subsidiary of Panta Holdings, the investment company of the Rosen Jacobson family, and is headquartered in Hoofddorp near Schiphol Airport, in premises shared with Fokker Services Group.
The E9X uses wing-battery integration, distributed electric propulsion, reusable battery packs, a high-voltage system and a reserve energy system intended for emergency use only. The design relies on a low-wing configuration, a wingspan of around 42 m with folding wingtips for airport gate compatibility, and battery packs with an energy density of 360 Wh/kg. The underlying research was carried out with Delft University of Technology and was reviewed independently. The technologies are also intended for hybrid-electric aircraft and for defense applications.
In April 2026 Elysian completed the Conceptual Design Review of the E9X, revising the configuration to a longer wing with six propulsors, and flew a subscale demonstrator. The company has signed collaboration agreements with KLM and Transavia in June 2025 and with the lessor TrueNoord in October 2025. In June 2026 it signed a memorandum of understanding with the battery maker ProLogium to explore solid-state batteries for aviation. Elysian uses Flexcompute's Flow360 CFD solver for aerodynamic development and won the De Belofte category of the 2026 Ondernemingsverkiezing Noord-Holland. The company has raised about $10 million to date and targets first flight of the full-size E9X in the early 2030s.
