About
Entalpic is a Paris-based startup that applies generative AI, atomistic simulation and experimental feedback loops to discover new materials and molecules for industrial chemistry. Its platform models materials at the atomic scale and combines methods such as graph neural networks, active learning, GFlowNets and large language models with quantum simulations, patents, scientific literature and experimental data. The company focuses on surface-driven processes including catalysis, electrochemistry, thin films and coatings, battery cathode materials and precursors for deposition, with applications in energy storage, fertilizer production, hydrogen production and pollution control.
Entalpic was founded in 2024 by Mathieu Galtier (CEO), Victor Schmidt (CTO) and Alexandre Duval (CSO). The company emerged from research at Mila, the Montreal machine learning lab, and Galtier brings experience from Owkin. In September 2024 it announced an €8.5M seed round led by Breega, Cathay Innovation and Felicis, with participation from individual angel investors including Yoshua Bengio, Thomas Wolf and Michal Valko. The company's team is largely PhD-level and includes alumni of Intel, Air Liquide, Applied Materials, Meta, Google and Amazon.
Entalpic has partnered with Hugging Face on LeMaterial, an open-source materials science initiative, and with Centrale Lille on a catalyst discovery project named Realtalpic. In March 2026 it announced a partnership with ATLANT 3D to build AI-driven digital twins for atomic layer deposition processes. The company was selected for France 2030's Pionniers de l'IA program, and in October 2026 Nvidia announced plans to take a minority stake in the company. Entalpic plans to launch an experimental lab in Grenoble.
