About

Evolunar is a deep-tech startup and spin-off of Politecnico di Torino, incubated at I3P and ESA BIC Turin, developing resilient navigation technologies for autonomous systems operating where satellite signals cannot be trusted. Its core product, POLARIS, is a self-contained, plug-and-play navigation module for UAVs and robotic platforms in GNSS-denied, degraded, spoofed, and contested electromagnetic environments. Built on proprietary sensor-fusion, visual-inertial odometry, and SLAM algorithms, POLARIS requires no pre-loaded maps, external infrastructure, or prior knowledge of the operational area.

For the space domain, Evolunar is developing LuNaDrone, a small autonomous spacecraft capable of flying over the lunar surface using rocket propulsion. Weighing around 15 kg, LuNaDrone is designed for a wide range of post-landing services on the Moon — including scouting, hazard detection, last-mile payload delivery, and path planning support for rovers. The same navigation architecture underlying LuNaDrone drives the terrestrial POLARIS system, representing a clear space-to-defence technology transfer.

Evolunar's dual-use positioning spans defence and space markets. In December 2025, POLARIS was selected into NATO DIANA's 2026 Challenge Programme Cohort under the "Contested Electromagnetic Environments" challenge area — one of 150 companies chosen from over 3,600 applicants. The company has also been recognised in Forbes Italy's Under 30 list (2025) and backed by a consortium of Italian aerospace investors including CDP Venture Capital, Obloo Ventures, and Galaxia, as well as a non-dilutive ESA BIC Turin grant.
