About

Flexion Robotics is a Zurich-based robotics software company building the hardware-agnostic autonomy stack — often described as "the brain" — for humanoid robots. Founded in December 2024 by researchers from ETH Zurich's Robotic Systems Lab and NVIDIA, the company leverages large-scale simulation and reinforcement learning to train control, motion, and reasoning systems without reliance on costly human teleoperation or task-specific scripting.

The platform is organized into three layers: a language-based Command Layer for natural-language task decomposition and common-sense reasoning; a Motion Layer consisting of a vision-language-action model trained primarily on synthetic data and fine-tuned for real-world edge cases; and a transformer-based Control Layer providing low-latency whole-body control with a modular skill library. This architecture is designed to be hardware-agnostic and has been validated across multiple humanoid platforms from different OEM partners.

Flexion's proprietary simulation-first approach enables robots to accumulate thousands of hours of training experience per day inside high-fidelity virtual environments, dramatically reducing data collection costs and accelerating sim-to-real transfer. The company's Reflect product line — with releases v0 (November 2025) and v1.0 (June 2026) — demonstrates long-horizon autonomous task execution such as tidying an entire office from a single natural-language prompt. In July 2026, Flexion published a joint real2sim2real pipeline with Niantic Spatial and NVIDIA, showing zero-shot transfer of an RGB-only navigation policy to a real humanoid in a real office.

Target applications include manufacturing, logistics, and disaster response. The company maintains its primary R&D base in Zurich and a growing US presence in San Francisco, and is already working with major humanoid OEM partners toward commercial deployment.
