About

FOSSA Systems is a Spanish vertically integrated satellite company that manufactures, launches, and operates its own constellation of low Earth orbit nanosatellites to deliver IoT connectivity for remote and inaccessible areas worldwide. Operating on a SaaS pay-per-message model, the company serves industries including oil & gas, logistics, energy & utilities, agriculture, and infrastructure & construction. FOSSA is the first and only company in Spain to both manufacture satellites and operate its own satellite communications service, deploying an 80-to-140-satellite LEO constellation that uses standardized LPWAN technologies (LoRa, NB-IoT) to ensure compatibility with existing deployments.

Beyond commercial IoT, FOSSA provides dedicated satellite constellations to governments, militaries, and institutions requiring sovereign infrastructure for secure communications, signals intelligence (SIGINT), and spectrum monitoring. The company has won contracts with NATO, been selected by ESA for the IRIS² PELICAN consortium, and won the IoT ecosystem contract for the Spanish Atlantic Constellation. As of 2025, FOSSA has successfully launched more than 25 satellites, with recent generations offering a 5–7 year lifespan and 30W power generation.

Founded in 2020 by Julián Fernández and Vicente González Negro in Madrid, FOSSA has grown to nearly 100 employees and expanded internationally with offices in Lisbon (2025) and Tokyo (2026). The company has raised close to €20 million in total funding and counts Kibo Ventures, Indico Capital Partners, Nabtesco Technology Ventures, Sabadell Venture Capital, and the Spanish Government's SETT among its backers.
