About

Gauss Fusion GmbH is a European greentech company developing stellarator fusion power plants. Founded in 2022 by a consortium of European industrial companies — Alcen (France), ASG Superconductors (Italy), Bruker EAS (Germany), IDOM (Spain), and RI Research Instruments (Germany) — the company pursues a system-level approach to fusion energy, developing the architecture, critical technologies, and industrial capabilities required to move from fusion science to deployable power plants.

The company's flagship GIGA™ platform defines the system-level architecture for its future stellarator fusion power plants, with the GIGA™ Conceptual Design Report completed and independently reviewed in 2025. Key proprietary technologies under development include Demountable Mitchell Magnets (DMM™) for modular superconducting magnet systems, HEXA™ tritium breeding blankets, PinkCap™ divertor technology, and a closed tritium fuel cycle. The company draws on expertise from institutions including IPP, KIT, Forschungszentrum Jülich, UKAEA, Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, and EUROfusion.

Gauss Fusion's roadmap targets a Gauss Industrial Demonstrator (GID-170) in the mid-2030s, followed by scalable gigawatt-class commercial fusion power plants in the 2040s. The company has received grant funding from Germany's Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and has signed MoUs with UKAEA (for HEXA/LIBRTI work) and IPP (for particle-exhaust testing at ASDEX Upgrade). As of late 2026, Gauss Fusion is in discussions to raise a $150M Series A round targeting U.S. investors.
