About

Hades Resources GmbH (trading as Hades Mining) is a Munich-based deep-tech startup founded in 2025 that is building Europe's first vertically integrated, technology-driven resource extraction company. At its core is Cerberus, a proprietary high-power fiber laser drilling system designed to penetrate hard rock at up to 45–50 metres per hour — fundamentally changing the economics, speed, and environmental footprint of drilling. The company's model spans the full value chain: from licensing and drilling to in-situ recovery (ISR) and production of critical minerals such as rare earths, graphite, lithium, and cobalt, as well as baseload geothermal energy.

Hades targets European resource sovereignty at a time when Europe sources less than 3% of the critical minerals it consumes domestically. Its flagship project is the Storkwitz Rare Earth Project in Saxony, Germany — the country's only known significant rare earth deposit — where it holds an exploration licence granted in July 2026 covering 28.4 km². The company aims to sell domestically extracted critical minerals to European industry by 2029.

The founding team brings deep expertise from across the European deep-tech ecosystem: CEO Dr. Max Werner is a serial deep-tech entrepreneur; COO Björn Dressler is the former COO of rocket maker Isar Aerospace; and CTO Dan Gengenbach is a former VP at fusion startup Marvel Fusion. Backed by top European and transatlantic VCs, Hades has raised over €20 million in under a year and has grown from 5 to more than 11 employees, with plans to scale to ~40 by end of 2026.
