About

Harmattan AI is a Paris-based defense technology company founded in April 2024 that develops vertically integrated autonomous systems for military use. Its product portfolio spans very short-range air defense (VSHORAD), coordinated ISR drones, precision strike UAVs, electronic warfare payloads, and a command-and-control mission management platform (Kalahari). The company's doctrine of "coordinated saturation" underpins an approach where attritable, AI-driven platforms operate as a unified autonomous force across contested environments, without dependency on centralized connectivity.

Harmattan AI's systems include the Gobi autonomous interceptor for counter-UAS missions, the Barkhan precision strike drone, the Sahara persistent SAR-ISR platform, and the NAMIB electronic warfare payload—jointly developed with Dassault Aviation and demonstrated in a collaborative flight with a Rafale F4 in July 2026. The company operates an in-house factory near Orly capable of producing up to 10,000 drones per month, reflecting its emphasis on scalable, high-volume manufacturing.

Harmattan AI has secured major programs of record with the French Army (1,000 Sonora drones delivered in early 2026, followed by a fivefold increase in orders in June 2026), the UK Ministry of Defence (3,000 autonomous systems), and a strategic national defense partnership with the Kingdom of Morocco. The company reached unicorn status in January 2026 with a $200 million Series B led by Dassault Aviation at a $1.4 billion valuation, and has total disclosed funding of approximately $242 million. It maintains offices in France, Switzerland, the UAE, the UK, Morocco, and the United States.
