About
Hellion Tech is a Munich-based defense-technology startup building AI-enabled interceptor missiles designed to defeat one-way attack drones and FPV quadcopters at a fraction of the cost of legacy air-defense systems. Founded in October 2025 and incorporated as a GmbH in March 2026, the company emerged from stealth in July 2026 with a two-layer interception architecture: Hellion-1 targets jet-engined threats such as the Shahed-238, while Vortex handles FPV and small commercial quadcopters adapted for attack. Both layers share a common AI recognition stack capable of in-flight target designation and anti-swarm logic.
The company's core thesis is economic: legacy systems costing millions per intercept cannot sustainably counter mass-produced $20k drones. Hellion Tech is designing its platforms to be modular and mass-manufacturable so that the per-intercept cost aligns with the threat. All hardware and software is developed in Europe.
Target customers include defense ministries, system integrators, and critical-infrastructure operators. The team is composed of engineers across GNC, embedded firmware, computer vision, propulsion, and production engineering, all working on-site in Munich. Early institutional backing came from TUM Venture Labs Aerospace/Defense, Sunfish Partners, SPRIND (Germany's Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation), and Vali – Entrepreneurship Hub at ESMT.
