Retrofit AI brain for industrial machines

Fields

About

HIVE is a physical AI company that builds a machine-agnostic software and sensor package, which it calls a silicon brain, for industrial machines. The system is retrofitted onto existing equipment such as wheel loaders, excavators, forklifts and haulers, connecting a fleet into one coordinated autonomous system that can be supervised remotely from a control room. The company was founded in Norway, has an office in Kristiansand and is headquartered in London, with a US expansion underway.

The platform requires no new hardware and improves with each deployed machine hour through a reinforcement loop shared across the fleet. Deployments include a Volvo wheel loader at Yara's Herøya facility that is supervised from a control room, avalanche clearing on the Vikafjellet mountain crossing for Presis Vegdrift, and counterbalanced forklifts running continuously at a third-party logistics operator. A 2026 pilot with Veidekke and Telia tested a 30-ton front loader operating 3 km inside a tunnel and at quarry sites. Telenor named HIVE the first customer of its AI factory in 2024, and the company has worked with Toyota Material Handling and Volvo Maskin. The company is targeting an 80% reduction in productive machine-hour costs.

HIVE raised $15 million in a seed round in July 2026 led by SuperSeed, with Veriten, Skyfall Ventures and Nysnø Climate Investments participating, and angel investors Børge Hald and Jørn Lyseggen. The funding is earmarked for platform development, hiring in AI and robotics, and scaling deployments across construction, mining, logistics and manufacturing.
