About

HyImpulse Technologies GmbH is a German aerospace company developing commercial launch vehicles and in-space transportation systems using a proprietary hybrid propulsion technology based on liquid oxygen (LOX) and paraffin as propellants. Founded in 2018 as a spin-off from the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the University of Stuttgart, the company offers three core services: the SR75 suborbital rocket (up to 250 kg payload to 200 km altitude), the SL1 three-stage orbital small launcher (up to 600 kg to LEO, targeting first launch in 2027), and the HyMOVE orbital transfer vehicle for in-space mobility and last-mile satellite deployment.

The company's hybrid propulsion architecture reduces component count by approximately 50% compared to conventional rockets, lowering costs and increasing safety and reliability. In May 2024, HyImpulse conducted the maiden flight of the SR75 from Koonibba Test Range in South Australia — the first commercial launch of a paraffin/LOX hybrid rocket engine — validating their technology at TRL-7 and laying the foundation for the orbital SL1 programme. The company operates sites in Neuenstadt am Kocher (HQ), Ottobrunn, and Glasgow.

HyImpulse has secured triple-digit million euro order books and established launch partnerships with SaxaVord Spaceport in Shetland and Koonibba in Australia. Backed by leading European deep-tech and space investors, the company had raised over €125 million in combined equity and public funding by late 2026, positioning itself as a leading independent European launch provider in the growing small-satellite LEO market.
