About
Involve Space is an Italian aerospace company based in Lipomo near Como that designs, builds and operates reusable stratospheric balloon platforms, marketed as Stratostats and StratoRelay. The platforms fly at roughly 20 to 40 km altitude and bridge the gap between satellites and drones, offering persistent, high-resolution monitoring of the same area for hours, days or weeks. Stated applications include Earth observation, defence ISR, infrastructure and environmental monitoring, disaster response, telecommunications, and flight validation and scientific missions such as satellite payload testing and entry, descent and landing experiments.
The company's software stack includes Clear, a proprietary GeoAI platform for processing stratospheric geospatial data, and Neurostar, AI flight-control software developed by its chief scientific officer. Its quantum-inspired division, qool, supports fleet optimisation and constellation routing. Involve Space has said it has completed more than 30 commercial missions and over 200 flights, and it opened a first US office at the Houston Spaceport in 2026.
Funding has come from Earlybird Venture Capital (led the 2024 EUR 2.5M seed), CDP Venture Capital's Takeoff accelerator, UniCredit, Fondazione CRT, Plug and Play, TLI Space, public grants and an EU EIC Accelerator award of EUR 12.5M in February 2026, comprising a EUR 2.5M grant and EUR 10M equity.
