About
Maritime Robotics AS, founded in Trondheim, Norway in 2005, is a global leader in Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs) and autonomous maritime navigation systems. Its core product, the Autonomous Navigation System (ANS), powers both its own branded sea drones — including the Otter, Otter X, Mariner, and Mariner X — and can be integrated as a modular system into third-party vessels. The company has delivered hundreds of autonomous systems worldwide across marine mapping and surveying, oceanographic data collection, maritime surveillance and inspection, and maritime transportation.
Maritime Robotics serves dual-use customers spanning commercial and defence sectors, including offshore energy, hydrographic surveying, environmental monitoring, fisheries, and maritime security. Its headquarters sit adjacent to the Trondheim Fjord, the world's first regulated autonomous ship test area since 2016, and a separate assembly and integration facility in Vanvikan builds its turnkey USV platforms. Revenue grew nearly five-fold over five years and more than doubled in the two years to 2026.
The company has been active at NATO exercises including REPMUS & BOLD MACHINA 2026, demonstrating its Mariner, Mariner X, and Sentry sea drones in coastal defence and maritime security scenarios. In 2026, Maritime Robotics closed its largest-ever funding round of €28 million, followed by an additional investment from Omnes Capital, to scale manufacturing, expand its product portfolio, and accelerate international commercialisation as adoption shifts from pilot projects to fleet-level deployments.
