About

Marvel Fusion is a Munich-based deep-tech company founded in 2019, pioneering laser-driven inertial confinement fusion (ICF) energy. The company uses ultrashort femtosecond laser pulses fired at nanostructured hydrogen–boron-11 fuel targets to achieve fusion reactions, building on the scientific proof-of-concept established by the U.S. National Ignition Facility. Its approach integrates target design, laser systems, fuel cycle, and power plant engineering into one coherent commercial system.

The company pursues three sequential revenue streams: industrial high-energy laser systems, neutron sources, and fusion power plants — enabling revenue generation well before the first commercial plant comes online. A wholly owned subsidiary, Caelora (launched September 2026), is commercializing diode-pumped laser systems for fusion energy, scientific research, and radiation sources for medical, industrial, and security applications. Marvel Fusion is also building the ATLAS facility at Colorado State University — a $150M public-private partnership and the world's most powerful short-pulse laser system — targeting completion in 2026–2027.

The company has secured approximately €385 million in total funding (€170M private equity, €215M public cooperation projects), making it Europe's best-funded fusion company. Key strategic partners include Siemens Energy (equity investor and co-developer of a conceptual fusion power plant design), Colorado State University, TRUMPF, Thales, and BASF. Marvel Fusion operates from two locations — Munich, Germany (HQ) and Fort Collins, Colorado (U.S.) — and employs 120+ scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs. It targets a fusion prototype by 2032 and a commercial power plant by 2036.
