About
Mimic Robotics is a Zurich-based physical AI company and ETH Zurich spin-off building frontier AI models for general-purpose dexterous robotic manipulation. The company has pioneered Video-Action Models (VAMs), a paradigm that leverages large-scale internet video pre-training to enable robots to predict and execute real-world actions with minimal fine-tuning. Their end-to-end learning approach allows robots to handle unstructured industrial tasks — including complex assembly, packaging, sorting, and cable manipulation — that are beyond the reach of conventional automation.
Mimic's full-stack platform combines the mimic hand M1 (a tendon-driven, 15-DoF backdrivable robotic hand built for industrial automation) with the mimic wearable U1 (an exoskeleton for high-fidelity human demonstration capture) and a custom in-house software stack. In July 2026, the company introduced FLUX-mimic, a next-generation Video-Action Model developed in partnership with Black Forest Labs, enabling task-specific fine-tuning from as little as 30 minutes of robot data. Their research has been published in collaboration with ETH Zurich, Microsoft Research, and UC Berkeley.
Mimic's customers span Fortune 500 manufacturers, global automotive OEMs (including a publicly announced partnership with Audi), and multinational logistics providers. The company has grown to 50+ employees across its Zurich HQ and a San Francisco research unit, drawing talent from Google DeepMind, Tesla Optimus, ETH Zurich, MIT, and Stanford. Total disclosed funding exceeds $20 million across pre-seed and seed rounds.
