About
Nordic Air Defence (NAD) is a Stockholm-based defence technology startup founded in 2023 by Karl Rosander (previously co-founder of Acast), Gustav Wiberg, Oskar Heiwe, and Rudolf Nordström. The company emerged from stealth mode in September 2024 with the launch of its first product, the Kreuger 100 — a lightweight, battery-powered, fixed-wing carbon-fiber drone interceptor designed for both military and civilian counter-UAS (C-UAS) applications.
NAD's core innovation is replacing expensive onboard hardware with software-defined flight control and embedded AI, dramatically lowering the cost-per-kill compared to conventional interceptors or missiles. The Kreuger 100 uses infrared tracking, autonomous intercept modes, and modular launcher configurations (ground-mounted, vehicle, vessel, or airborne). The extended-range variant, the Kreuger 100XR (K100XR), adds foldable wings, a speed exceeding 220 mph (354 km/h), an intercept range of 3+ km, and fire-and-forget autonomy capable of operating in radio-silent mode. The system is designed to be fully disposable and targets threats including Shahed-type one-way attack drones and the Russian Orlan-10.
NAD's team brings together engineers from Palantir, SAAB, Kratos, Zipline, FOI (the Swedish Defence Research Agency), and Quantum Systems. The company has conducted testing at NATO's Sēlija innovation range in Latvia, partnered with Volvo Defense on the VIPRO vehicle-mounted C-UAS pod, signed a letter of intent with Polish firms WB Group and Tantalit for integration and local assembly, and partnered with Polar Mist Technologies to mount the K100XR on autonomous surface vessels for Baltic Sea coverage. In July 2026, NAD held its first public Demo Day, with media observing a live K100XR interception of target drones.
The company has raised approximately $4.4 million in pre-seed funding across two rounds and employs around 23 people, with plans to expand into Poland and pursue operational trials in Ukraine.
