About

NVision Quantum Technologies is a German quantum technology company headquartered in Ulm that engineers the quantum properties of organic molecules. It originated from research at Ulm University and was founded in 2015 by Sella Brosh, Ilai Schwartz, Martin Plenio and Alex Retzker. The company develops two platforms built on the same molecular spin-control approach: POLARIS, a quantum-enhanced MRI system that boosts the MRI signal of sugar-based imaging agents by more than 10,000 times so that standard MRI scanners can image metabolism in real time, and PIQC, a photonic quantum computing architecture based on organic molecular qubits integrated onto photonic chips.

POLARIS uses parahydrogen-induced polarization and is designed to run at room temperature in clinical settings without cryogenic infrastructure. It allows researchers to judge treatment response within hours or days rather than the months required by structural imaging. POLARIS systems have been deployed at institutions including Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the University of Cambridge, the Technical University of Munich, UCLouvain, Hokkaido University and the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia, and the company expected around 20 installations across the US, Europe and Asia by the end of 2026.

In May 2026 the company announced a 55 million dollar Series B anchored by Abbott, including a 17 million dollar venture loan from the European Investment Bank, and announced its expansion from quantum sensing into quantum computing. In October 2026 it reported a peer-reviewed Nature paper on an individually addressable organic molecular qubit with a photonic interface and a partnership with HyperLight Corporation to integrate thin-film molecular qubits onto photonic integrated circuits. The company is also selected for the EuroHPC Quantum Grand Challenge under its QOSMOS project, and it holds Horizon Europe and Innovation Fund Denmark grants for quantum-enhanced MRI work. The company frames its strategy as compute and validate, pairing quantum computing for drug design with quantum-enhanced MRI for biological validation, with a focus on healthcare.
