About

Nyobolt Limited is a Cambridge, UK battery technology company that develops high-power, fast-charging battery systems built on niobium tungsten oxide anodes. The technology stems from research led by Professor Dame Clare Grey at the University of Cambridge. The company was founded in 2019 by Grey and Dr Sai Shivareddy to commercialise this chemistry as an integrated solution combining cells, battery systems and power electronics. Its cells charge from 0 to 80 percent in under five minutes and withstand more than 20,000 charge cycles, with about 20 times the energy density of supercapacitors.

Nyobolt's products target physical AI and robotics, AI data centre power and mobility. Symbotic announced in September 2025 that its SymBot autonomous mobile robots would use Nyobolt batteries, a retrofittable upgrade offering six times the energy capacity of the previous ultracapacitor solution at 40 percent less weight. In October 2026 Agility Robotics selected Nyobolt to supply the fast-charging battery system for its Digit 5 humanoid robot. The company has also demonstrated an electric car prototype charging from 10 to 80 percent in 4 minutes 37 seconds on a 350 kW DC charger.

Nyobolt has raised about $160M in total funding. Its $60M Series C in May 2026 at a $1 billion valuation was led by Symbotic, with IQ Capital, Latitude, Scania Invest and CBMM participating. The company reports that revenues grew five times year-on-year, following revenues of more than $9M in 2024. It operates sites in Cambridge, Bedford (Massachusetts), Haverhill, Bad Duerkheim (Germany) and Tokyo.
