About

OHB SE is one of Europe's leading independent space and technology groups, headquartered in Bremen, Germany. Founded in 1981 when Christa Fuchs took over a small hydraulic repair shop, and transformed into a space company after her husband Manfred Fuchs joined in 1985, OHB has grown into a top-3 European space prime with approximately 4,000 employees across Germany, Europe, and overseas. The company operates across three segments: Space Systems (satellite development and manufacturing), Access to Space (launcher components and structures via MT Aerospace), and Digital (data services and ground systems).

OHB's portfolio spans the full space value chain — from satellite platform design and manufacturing, to launch vehicle structures, to data exploitation — serving both institutional customers (ESA, Bundeswehr, EU) and commercial clients. Notable programmes include 34 Galileo navigation satellites, the Meteosat Third Generation (MTG) weather satellites, and the SAR-Lupe reconnaissance constellation for the German armed forces. In 2025, OHB was selected as prime contractor for ESA's LISA gravitational wave observatory (€839 million contract), its first L-class mission, and secured a nearly €1 billion contract for 18 MEO satellites for the EU's IRIS² secure connectivity programme.

The company went public in 2001 and remains majority-owned by the founding Fuchs family, with KKR as a minority strategic investor since 2023. In 2026, OHB completed a major ~€484 million equity capital raise to fund industrialisation of manufacturing, strategic M&A, and next-generation programmes. Annual revenues reached €1.25 billion in FY2025, with an order backlog exceeding €3 billion — a record in the group's history.
