About
OKAPI:Orbits GmbH is a German space situational awareness company based in Braunschweig. It was founded in 2018 as a spin-off of TU Braunschweig, building on decades of orbital debris and space traffic research at the institute. The company develops software for satellite operators, governments, research institutions and insurers, covering conjunction screening, collision avoidance, maneuver planning, operator-to-operator coordination, flight dynamics and mission compliance.
The OKAPI:Orbits platform includes modules such as OKAPI:Soteria for mission design and regulatory compliance checks against debris regulations, OKAPI:Aether for conjunction screening and avoidance, OKAPI:Astrolabe for coordinating close approaches between operators, and OKAPI:LEOP for launch and early orbit support. The company maintains its own independent object catalogue fused from multiple sources, and offers deployment as a cloud service hosted in Germany or on premises.
Customers and partners include Astranis, ST Engineering Satellite Systems, Aurora Propulsion Technologies and the European Space Agency, which has awarded the company contracts including work on the MASTER space debris model and a 2026 space-air traffic integration project. The company reports managing more than 150 active satellites on its platform and has been involved in the Space Sustainability Rating framework. It raised a €5.5M seed round in 2022 and a €13M seed round in April 2025, led by Ventech.
