About
OLIX, formerly known as Flux Corp, is a London-based company founded in 2024 that is building infrastructure for frontier AI inference. It designs the chips, lasers and network that connect them, so that each stage of token production can run on specialised hardware rather than on a single general-purpose chip. Its X-1 platform unrolls AI models across many specialised chips linked by a slow-and-wide optical interconnect that moves data using light, with workloads scheduled across racks by a deterministic compiler.
The first chip in the X-1 platform is DX-1, a decode accelerator designed for the stage at which a model reasons and generates its output. DX-1 holds models in on-chip SRAM and uses no high-bandwidth memory or advanced packaging. The company's systems are delivered as complete racks. OLIX plans to tape out its chips before the end of 2026 and to deliver its first products to customers in 2027.
OLIX raised a $220M round in February 2026 led by Hummingbird Ventures at a valuation above $1bn, and a $312M Series B in August 2026 at a $3.3bn valuation, led by Fundomo, with participation from Arm, Hudson River Trading, Reed Hastings and the UK government's Sovereign AI fund. Professor Nick McKeown, co-inventor of software-defined networking, joined the board, and Matt Briers, former CFO of Wise, was appointed Chief Financial Officer. The company has around 140 staff across London, Bristol, Austin, Toronto and San Francisco. Founder James Dacombe is also CEO of CoMind, a brain-monitoring company.
