About
OMass Therapeutics is a biotechnology company based in Oxford, UK, that identifies medicines against highly validated but inadequately drugged target ecosystems, such as membrane proteins and intracellular complexes. It spun out of the University of Oxford in 2016 and was founded by Professor Dame Carol Robinson, Jonathan Hopper, Idlir Liko and Hsin Yung (Jason) Yen. Its proprietary OdyssION platform combines novel biochemistry, native mass spectrometry and custom chemistry to study how a target interacts with its native ecosystem, which supports the discovery of small-molecule drug candidates.
The company's pipeline focuses on rare diseases and immunological conditions. Programs target solute carriers, inflammasome complexes and GPCRs, including an MC2 receptor antagonist for congenital adrenal hyperplasia, a gasdermin D inhibitor for inflammatory diseases, a GPR65 agonist for inflammatory bowel disease, and SLC15A4 and cGAS programs. OMass presented positive preclinical data for its MC2 program at ENDO 2025, where the lead compound OMS1620 was advancing through IND-enabling studies.
In September 2025 OMass entered an exclusive collaboration and license agreement with Genentech, part of the Roche Group, for its preclinical oral small-molecule IBD program. OMass was to receive a $20 million upfront payment, with potential total value above $420 million. The company has raised a Series B led by GV, Northpond Ventures and Sanofi Ventures, extended in 2023 with British Patient Capital, and its investors also include Syncona, Oxford Science Enterprises and the University of Oxford. In 2023 it moved into a purpose-built 16,000 sq ft flagship site on the ARC Oxford campus.
