About

Orange Quantum Systems (OrangeQS) is a Delft-based quantum technology company that builds test equipment, control stacks and protocols for characterising quantum chips. It was spun out of TNO and TU Delft/QuTech. Its flagship product, OrangeQS MAX, is a turn-key, automated, high-throughput cryogenic test system for quantum chips; OrangeQS FLEX is a customisable chip-testing setup for academic and industrial R&D labs; and OrangeQS Juice is an open-source Linux-based operating system for managing quantum research setups.

The company says quantum chip testing is a bottleneck: tests can take days or weeks and require cryogenic labs and PhD-level operators. OrangeQS aims to bring semiconductor-style automated testing to quantum chips to reduce test cost per qubit. The first OrangeQS MAX was launched in November 2024 with IQM Quantum Computers as launch customer and shipped to IQM in Espoo, Finland in January 2025. Other users named include KIT, Berkeley Lab's Advanced Quantum Testbed, Chalmers, QuTech, the University of Napoli and the University of Cologne.

In 2026 OrangeQS launched the OrangeQS MAX Partnership Program with Rigetti Computing, QuantWare and Peak Quantum, later joined by IQM, and announced an expansion into spin-qubit testing with Equal1 and Quobly. The company has been selected by EIT Digital and the European Innovation Council, and its EIC Accelerator project produced the first MAX generation.
