About

Origin Robotics is a Latvian defense technology company founded in March 2022 in Riga by serial UAV entrepreneurs Agris Kipurs and Ilja Nevdahs, both previously co-founders of Airdog (acquired by Alarm.com in 2020). The company develops advanced autonomous unmanned aerial systems for Europe and NATO allies, combining cost-efficient hardware with AI-powered software for precision strike and counter-drone missions.

Its flagship product, BEAK, is a man-portable drone-launched precision-guided weapon system with a range of up to 15 km. BEAK uses advanced computer vision and AI for autonomous guidance and operates effectively under electronic jamming, offering a cost-per-strike claimed to be 20 times lower than alternatives. The newer BLAZE is an autonomous high-explosive interceptor that pairs radar-based detection with AI-powered computer vision for autonomous target acquisition and interception of hostile UAVs and loitering munitions. BLAZE weighs under 6 kg, can be set up tool-free in under ten minutes, and became the first NATO-codified autonomous interceptor drone.

BLAZE has entered service with Latvia, Estonia, Belgium, Sweden, and France (selected after a competitive DGA evaluation), and Origin signed a multi-year framework agreement with the Latvian Armed Forces in 2025. Both systems are battlefield-proven, NATO-standard, jamming-resistant, and free of Chinese components. In September 2026, Origin signed an MoU with Anduril Industries to explore integrating BLAZE with Anduril's Lattice command-and-control platform for layered counter-UAS defense on NATO's eastern flank.

Origin Robotics is not to be confused with San Francisco-based Origin, which builds construction robots.
