About

Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech is a Barcelona-based full-stack quantum computing company founded in 2019 as a spin-off of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, the University of Barcelona and the Institute of High Energy Physics (IFAE). The company designs its own superconducting fluxonium qubit chips, control software, algorithms and cryogenic and control electronics, and builds analog, digital and multimodal quantum computers. Its flagship offerings include the SpeQtrum cloud service (SpeQtrum QaaS), on-premises SpeQtrum systems for HPC centres, and the EduQit build-your-own quantum computer kit for education and research. Its QiliSDK open-source Python framework unifies digital, analog and hybrid quantum workflows, and it has integrated with NVIDIA CUDA-Q.

Qilimanjaro has deployed quantum systems at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, where its analog system was inaugurated in May 2026 and combined with a digital system and MareNostrum 5 to form MareNostrum-Ona. The company also operates a multimodal quantum data center in Barcelona and has partnered with Qblox, IMPAQT, CERN's Open Quantum Institute, Oxigen Data Center and HPCNow! to expand deployment and access in Europe. Its target applications include optimization, simulation and artificial intelligence. The company was selected for Phase 1 of the EuroHPC Quantum Grand Challenge and for the SUPREME superconducting chip pilot line.

The company reported revenue of €5.5 million in 2025 and employs more than 80 people, with plans to add about 40. Its business centres on renting its quantum technology to large companies and research institutions. In October 2026 it completed a first close of its Series A worth €19.6 million, led by Indra through IndraMind with €10 million, with SETT contributing €9.6 million, and a second close is planned for the end of 2026 with Avançsa and existing investors.
