About
Quandela is a European deep-tech company founded in 2017 as a spin-off from CNRS and the Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (C2N) at Université Paris-Saclay. The company builds full-stack photonic quantum computers that use single photons as qubits, leveraging its proprietary eDelight solid-state single-photon source technology based on semiconductor quantum dots. Its hardware portfolio spans multiple generations of quantum computers — Ascella, Belenos, and Canopus — as well as the MosaiQ platform and Prometheus single-photon sources for research. The company also offers Perceval, an open-source Python framework for quantum programming, cloud-accessible quantum processors, and a Quantum Acceleration Program consulting service for enterprises.
With over 130 employees across sites in Massy (headquarters and manufacturing), Palaiseau, Paris, Munich, Montréal, and Seoul, Quandela has delivered quantum computers to OVHcloud, Exaion, and EuroHPC/GENCI (the "Lucy" system at CEA's TGCC supercomputer centre). Its cloud platform hosts more than 2,800 users across 30+ countries. The company operates the first dedicated quantum computer factory in Europe, with a cleanroom for single-photon source production and an assembly facility capable of producing four quantum computers per year.
Quandela's technology targets a range of industries including cybersecurity, finance, logistics, pharmaceuticals, chemistry, and aerospace. It has worked with clients such as Crédit Agricole CIB, OVHcloud, ONERA, and MBDA, and holds partnerships with institutions including KRIBB (South Korea) and Quanova (Vietnam). In 2024, Quandela was selected for France's PROQCIMA programme (€500M national quantum initiative) and named among Systematic Paris-Region's Deep Tech Champions. The company published a major scientific breakthrough in February 2025, demonstrating a 100,000-fold reduction in components needed for fault-tolerant quantum computation.
