About

QuantumDiamonds GmbH is a Munich-based deep-tech company spun out of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in 2022. It develops and manufactures next-generation semiconductor testing and inspection systems based on diamond quantum sensing, using nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in synthetic diamonds to non-destructively map magnetic fields—and thus electrical current flow—within advanced chip packages with micrometer precision.

The company's flagship product line, the QDm series, enables non-destructive, high-resolution 3D localization of defects such as opens, shorts, and buried faults inside complex advanced packaging architectures including 2.5D/3D ICs, chiplets, and wide-bandgap devices. Results are delivered in minutes rather than hours, with sensitivity 100–1,000× lower noise than traditional inspection tools. An inline, high-throughput wafer-mapping variant is also under development for real-time yield monitoring in production environments.

QuantumDiamonds works with nine of the world's ten largest chipmakers and has deployed systems at leading failure analysis labs including Eurofins EAG Laboratories in San Jose and Integrated Service Technology (iST) in Hsinchu, Taiwan. The company is building the world's first production facility for quantum-based chip inspection systems in Munich as part of a €152 million investment plan. It has also launched TroDeQu, the first European initiative to detect hardware trojans using quantum sensing, in partnership with TU Munich and with €2.9 million in Bavarian state funding.
