About
Quint Computing is a German quantum computing startup based in Erlangen that develops fault-tolerant superconducting quantum computers. It was founded in October 2025 by physicists Christopher Eichler and Michael J. Hartmann together with economist Jona Stinner, and emerged from research at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. The company is part of the Munich Quantum Valley ecosystem.
The company's core technology is a patented superconducting chip architecture that corrects errors in a multilayer scheme. Most errors are suppressed at the hardware level through circuit elements on the chip, so that correction algorithms only need to address the remaining errors. This is intended to reduce the qubit redundancy and hardware overhead that current error correction requires, and the company states that the approach could cut system complexity, hardware requirements and energy use by a factor of 100. Superconducting qubits are used to enable error-correction cycle times below one microsecond.
Quint targets fault-tolerant simulation of complex chemical processes and materials design, with industrial applications in pharmaceuticals, chemicals, logistics and advanced manufacturing. Reported commercial roadmap elements include industrial pilot projects with Bosch, BASF and Boehringer Ingelheim. The company plans to rely on contract manufacturers for chip production and intends to demonstrate that its architecture keeps its advantages at the scale of hundreds of qubits.
In November 2026 Quint announced a €9.1 million first funding round led by Vsquared Ventures, with participation from Quantonation, Nucleus Capital, Faber, Vanagon Ventures, ZOHO.VC and Mikko Möttönen, founder of IQM and QMill. The company also received a €2.2 million Pathfinder grant from the European Innovation Council. The funds are earmarked for expanding the research and engineering team, which the company plans to grow to roughly 40 people by 2028, and for first industrial deployment projects. Its advisory board includes Prof. Florian Marquardt, Dr. Reinhard Ploss and Dr. Markus Hoffmann.
